Self-Esteem Empowerment Session, Tole, May 2025
Mental Health and Psychosocial support program
Self-Esteem Empowerment Session with Primary Five and Six Pupils of Sasse Nursery and Primary School Tole on the 8th of May 2025
Background
Self-esteem refers to the way individuals perceive, value, and feel about themselves. It encompasses a person’s sense of self-worth, confidence in their abilities, and belief that they are deserving of respect, love, and success. Self-esteem begins to develop during early childhood through interactions with parents, caregivers, teachers, peers, and the wider community. Positive experiences, encouragement, and supportive relationships help children build healthy self-esteem, while repeated criticism, neglect, bullying, or discrimination can negatively affect how they view themselves.
Promoting healthy self-esteem is therefore essential for the holistic development of children. Families, schools, communities, and organizations all play an important role in creating safe, supportive, and inclusive environments where children feel valued, respected, and encouraged. Through positive reinforcement, opportunities for participation, emotional support, and the development of life skills, children can build the confidence and self-belief needed to thrive both in childhood and throughout their lives.
Objective Of the Activity
